What Aušra writes about her artwork:

Paintings are like corridors. Like tunnels through which one can travel to invisible, but close-to-our-time, worlds.
I often worry that everything I draw is starting to really come to life somewhere - it appears HERE and NOW - lotuses are blooming, women are boiling laundry and sprinkling cinnamon on herring, there are letters in the clock mechanism that I never wrote... Only time flows completely differently HERE.
Paintings "come alive" when they are "touched" by the eyes. Those glances are food for the painting. I feel responsible for what appears on a sheet of paper. I want to live in a calm and unhurried world. After all, it is possible that we will spend our next lives in worlds that we have invented. And I - in the ones that I have drawn... Aušra
